Friends, again

What is a friend to me? Someone who cares? Someone I communicate with often?

Then, is family friends?

Family is blood-bound, so there’s a clear line there. Whether a family member is also a friend can happen — because a family member who is not a friend is not uncommon. You don’t have to ask too many people before realising that not all family members actually care about you. Some may even hate you, due to jealousy, envy, or some complicated past.

So why have friends when family should be enough?

Well, it helps that a relationship isn’t defined by something out of my control. I can’t choose family, but I can definitely choose friends.

And I choose a friend when I call that person a friend.
